Biographical Stuff
I was born in Germany and grew up in the town of Dusseldorf. Having been weaned on classical music (my dad was a classical violinist and conductor), I got a good understanding at an early age about music values and the work it takes to get proficient on an instrument. I remember my father practicing and instilling into me the sense of discipline. Being an "A" student, my mother had high hopes for an academic career for me. However... you can't keep a future Shredmistress down and I took to rockn' roll like bees to honey. Much to the dismay of my mother who wanted her oldest daughter to be academic and pursue a "respectable career". My father, however, was very supportive of my endeavors, buying me guitars for my birthday and generally encouraging my to "live my life".
I started playing guitar and basically just used it as an accompaniment for my songwriting. It was only after I heard recordings of Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix and Steve Vai that I made up my mind to play LEAD guitar. Those players blew my mind right out of the water and the rest is history!
With the vast majority of Rock happening in America, I immigrated to the United States, landing in New York where I played and recorded in numerous bands. Later I spent three years on the road playing rock, pop, jazz and disco, polishing my chops. A one year stint in New Orleans followed and touring the South.
Finally, I moved to San Francisco where I formed my own power trio SHREDMISTRESS, with me as the lead singer / guitar player.
In the mid-nineties I joined White Trash Debutantes as a break from the Metal scene I'd been toiling in for several years. It was during my third show with this group that I met future musical partner Christine. The two of us had a firm concept of the band we would form together, a guitar-driven rock spectacle that would be called GLAMAZON. We released a CD and continued to tour the country.
Once I moved to L.A., I started my own music production company called "ShredSounds", formed a musicians network FemMuse.com, teamed up with bass player Reggie Mars and play select shows around town. Reggie and I produce and record guitar driven sound tracks in our own studio for film/tv productions that are exceptional in their vision. We're about to release our new CD "Shredmistress" and more is to come.
